(Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, May 31. The conditions were pleasant while the work was in progress at Ricearton this morning. There was not much .doing by the horses on the flat, but the jumpers had a busy time, and provided plenty-of interest. The plough track has beenf out of action for some time on account of wet weather, A start was made this morning to plough it, Arid it will not be available for gallop:ing until the spring. Streamline and Grey Bov went twice round the steeplechase fences. They went- at a sound pace, though not at their best, and they gave a fine exhibition. !■ , .. . Conception went three times over the two pony hurdles. She is a sister to Chaste, and she shaped particularly well for 'a novice.' , ;Chaste Was schooled over six hurdles. She started well over the flight in front of the winning post, but did not take kindly to the next, though she got over at the second attempt, after which she shaped in good style over four more ‘ Arctic Star gave-a good display ovetf ■ four- hurdles, going at a sound pace. , . Flashlight and Spearmarch went once round the country together, the former.going on for another circuit by .himself.; ; It was a capital exhibition. Spearmarch came in for very favourable notice, as. though a good jumper over hurdles, his previous experience over fences was three of the brushes at hunting pace. liant exhibitions twice round the fences. Full Throttle was sent twice over the pony' hurdles. He is making great improvement in his jumping. The Grasper went over the pony hurdles and then jumped the two obstacles down the straight in good style. E., kosewarne has been unable to ride for a few weeks following on a fall and Injuries to his shoulder in a motor accident. He is nearly right again, and hopes to bo riding at the Dunedin meeting next week.
