The Southern forwards went at once to the attack on resuming, and D. Trevathan potted without success. Simon was doing a, lot of saving for his side, but his outside backs could not gain grouhd on attack. Gaffaney short-punted from a scrum, and Taylor ran up after fielding the return and passed to Geary on the wing. Geary crosskickedy and M'LachJan secured and Was pushed out near the stand

corner. From the throw in Graham secured and forced his way across. Taylor missed the goal kick. Southern 5, Pirates 3. Play had slowed up, and the forward play was more solid than spectacular. Beadle led a Pirates' rush, and shortly after Black was well tackled as he tried to go over on the blind side.
