The Otautau Racing Club was favoured with fine weather for its meeting at Invercargill before a good crowd, and the club should show a profit sufficient to cover the expenses of the previous meetings which were abandoned. The Crown Stakes was a poor affair. Sir Admiral made the running from Topsy Wood and Baltruin. Topsy Wood joined the leader entering the straight, but Baltruin ran to the front and won easily by a length. Topsy Wood was a length and a-half away. In the Wallace Trot Ghandi led out from Erinola, Drumbunnif, Aqua Bond, and Happy Morn. Running to the back Aqua Bond went to the front from Glen Guy. Drumbunnif, Ghandi. and Happy King. The order was the same until approaching the straight, where Drumbunnif took charge and went on to win by three lengths from Aqua Bond. Glen Guy was a length away, and then Happy Kin<* It was easy for the winner. Royal Gallant won the Cup nicely at the finish. Amelita made the pace early, with Cintilla. Island Linnet, and Royal Gallant. Amelita was two lengths clear in the back from Cintilla. Royal Gallant moved up on the turn, and running to the straight Royal Gallant, Amelita, and Cintilla were in line ahead of Ashaway. Royal Gallant took charge at the distance, and won well by a length from Cintilla. Ashaway was two lengths away. ?.nd then Amelita and Island Linnet. Tautau Maid was the only one in the Ringway Hack Handicap over the final furlong. Orderwood made the running from Tautau Maid, Red Treasure and Johnny. Tautau Maid ran up to Orderwood three furlongs from home, with Red Treasure next. Tautau Maid was clear into the straight, and won easing up by two lengths. Red Treasure was four lengths a\vay, and then Johnny. Black Banner won the Steeplechase very easily. Black Banner led with Possum over the first fence, then Glenmure. After jumping the sod wall Black Banner had charge from Possum and Trisox. The last-named went into second place after a mile. Silken Lad fell at the board fence near the sevenfurlong post. Black Banner was always in front and won pulling up by four lengths from Trisox. Possum was six lengths away. The winner chanced several of the fences, but was too good on the day. Ghandi led all the way to win the Bayswater Trot. He and Gold Streak together led for two furlongs from Loyal Emblem and Guy View. Ghandi took charge half a mile from home Drumbunnif and Glen Guy moved up fast, and a keen race saw four very weary horses fight out a finish, Ghandi staying on to boat Drumbunnif. who was unlucky, by a length Glen Guy was half a length away and then Guv View and Abel.

Western Song spreadeagled the field :n the Strathmore Handicap Gipsy Fair and Western Song were first to show out from Coat of Arms. Smoko and Verdure. The leaders were three lengths clear at the half mile, then Western Song showed out. He was a length and a-half clear into the straight and went on to beat Coat of Arms by three lengths.
