MINERS ON STRIKE

IN BRITISH COLUMBIA DEMAND FOR HIGHER WAGES VANCOUVER, May 26. The Lewis organisation has penetrated British Columbia, where 500 are on strike at two gold mines. The strikers are demanding recognition of the Lewis Union and an increase in wages. The mines were closed, with the official statement that the owners would not tolerate alien agitators.

Waterfront workers at seven British Columbia ports are calling a meeting to discuss protection " against foreign attempts to exploit the workers."
