MOTHER AVMKENED BY BABY OCCUPANTS' NARROW ESCAPE (Per United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., May 27. Rising at 3. o'clock this morning to attend to the baby wha was crying in another room, Mrs Holland, residing in an eight-roomed house on the Rangitikei line, found the house full of smoke and fire raging in the rear part. She immediately roused her husband, and with the baby they were able to escape, with a few clothes.

The discovery was made just in time as the door of the room in which the parents were asleep was closed. The.fire had been burning for some time, and as motorists who had seen it reached the front door the Hollands made their exit.
