AUSTRALIAN V.C.'S DEATH TRAGIC OUTCOME OF TRIP LONDON, April 9. (Received April 11, at 6.30 p.m.) Gunner Arthur Percy Sullivan, who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1919 and who was a member of the Australian Coronation Contingent, was knocked down and killed* by a pedal cyclist in Birdcage Walk this evening. Sullivan was a bank, manager on the * New South Wales north coast town of Casino. He leaves a widow and three children, including twin girls. The News Chronicle says that just before the accident Sullivan had been besieged by autograph hunters, and apparently did not notice the cyclist. According to advice from Australia the widow's wishes are that Sullivan's body should be cremated at Golders Green on the afternoon of April 13, and that the ashes be sent to Australia.
