TURNED TO PROFIT

ENFORCED STAY ON ISLAND SCIENTISTS' - EXPERIENCE (Per United Press association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 5. A forced prolongation of their stay on Hen Island in the Hen and Chickens Group, off Whangarei Heads, proved profitable to five Auckland scientists, including Mr R. A Falla, the newly-appointed director of the Canterbury Museum. The scientists were forced to spend four extra days on the island owing to the fact that the launch which was to have picked them up was delayed through engine trouble. Eventually the police were advised, and a party set out to rescue the marooned'scientists, who had been able to eke out their provisions and do additional field work. " We had an interesting and profitable time despite the inconvenience. The island is an excellent sanctuary, rich in plant, bird, and insect life," said Mr Falla.
