LARGE AREA OF LAND USEFUL PURPOSE IN VIEW (Per United Press Association) NAPIER, Jan. 6. An area of approximately 7500 acres in the vicinity of Napier, which was freed from sea water as a result of the earthquake of 1931, is expected to be available Jor cultivation next year. The problem confronting the officers of the Departments of Public Works and Agriculture is the removal of salt from the former sea bed, but pumping and the installation of an extensive drainage system have done much in this direction. Parts have already been ploughed and planted, but these are mostly experimental patches, and the major portion of the block will require further drainage
