STATUS IN THE PACIFIC NEW ZEALAND’S ATTITUDE LONDON, Jan. 5. Mr Walter Nash, speaking at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, said New Zealand was anxious to do what she could in order to maintain the status of British shipping in the Pacific with the least possible disturbance to relations with the United States. He said no force in the world could break the Empire, least of all as between Britain and New Zealand. New Zealand would give the United Kingdom first call on its surplus production, and take manufactured commodities and other services in exchange.
