RICCARTON TEAMS

HOLIDAY PLANS (Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 5. The Riccarton trainers are gradually completing their arrangements, and it seems apparent that not many of them will remain at home As usual the local teams will be scattered in all parts of the Dominion. About a dozen horses will go to Auckland, while there will be about as many for the Manawatu meeting. A large number will do the Dunedin meeting, dividing up for the second week, while there will be the customary contingent for the West Coast.

J. S. Shaw has made a change in his plans. ,He will take only Greek Gold to Auckland, where his owner, Mr W. Hosking, resides; while Dollar Bill and the novice Lustral, owned by Mrs D. Levin, of Wellington, will be raced at the Manawatu and Wairarapa meetings. M. B. Edwards has arranged to send Ponty to Auckland. A two-mile journey looks too long for him, but the present intention is to start him in the. Auckland Cup, and the North Island light-weight R. W. Savage has been mentioned as a possible rider. It is probable that F. D. Jones will make the - trip to Auckland with the three-year-olds Custos and Cerne Abbas and the two-year-old Royal Chief.

C. C. M'Carthy will have two horses in the North Island during the holidays, but they will go different ways. Argentic is booked for Auckland, while the two-year-old Screamer will do his racing at the Manawatu and Wairarapa meetings. Two of Mr L. W. Storry's team, La France and Joyous, may be raced at the Wairarapa meeting, with Trentham to follow. „, ~ r> F. Holmes has left Studley Royal in the Great Northern Derby, and, as he is being worked the reverse way, it looks as if the northern trip was in view. D. O'Connor intended to reserve Nightbound for Trentham next month, but, instead, he will take the Night Raid gelding to Dunedin, Waikouaiti and Oamaru. He may be the only horse racing from this stable, though there is a possibility that Polygraph will be sent to the West Coast. This, however, will depend on his form at Hororata warranting the trip. Gresham has been suffering from a cold • and he may not do any racing till later P. M'Grath expects to go south with the improving stayer Convivial for the Dunedin, Waikouaiti and Oamaru meetings. . .. H. Nurse may do a round of the southern meetings, starting with Dunedin. His team is likely to consist of Polydora, Rousseau and Palmyra. A. S. Ellis will send Maka Ahi to the West Coast, where he is owned. Forum, by Cockpit from Ennea, may be raced in the south, but this is not certain, as he is backward, so he may be given more time. C. Davey is arranging to go soutn with Davolo and his brother, Royplo. F. Hall has a trip to the West Coast in view with Rebel Chief. He has shown some of his best form at this part of the season, and he is nearing his best again. T. H. Gillett has no plans, but he may have some horses for southern meetings. The decision is being delayed until next week. In addition to racing three horses in the North Island, J. S. Shaw intends to send the two-year-old Yale to Oamaru. .„ , „ . . Rose of Tralee will be allowed to miss her Hororata engagement, but Mr J. H. Wilson may race her at Waikouaiti and Oamaru. S. Barr expects to have Cape Gabo, Recollection, and the hurdlers. Redolent and Vitaphone, at* the Dunedin meeting, after which the first-named pair will go on to Southland, while the two jumpers may return home. Vitaphone is being worked on the beach at New Brighton, but he will be back at Riccarton next week, to be schooled. Pink Polly is to do the Waikouaiti and Oamaru meetings, while Gold Label and Silver Slipper will go to the West Coast. D. Cotton will have nothing to race during the holidays. He expects to be at Trentham next month with the three-year-old The Duel, by Rapier from Warlove. Baldoon, half-brother by Philamor to Grey Honour, is a posisble mate, but it will depend on how he shapes in the next few weeks. Grey Honour will be reserved till the autumn, when the tracks should be softer.
