WHIPPET RACING
DUNEDIN CLUB'S MEETING GOLD FLIGHT WINS DUNEDIN cup ...*:..;." Proof that the sport of whippet racing is increasing in popularity was evidenced on Saturday afternoon when the Dunedin Whippet Racing Club held a successful meeting at the club grounds, Tahuna Park. There was a good attendance of spectators, and conditions for the meeting were ideal. The programme consisted of six events and, generally speaking, the dogs ran well up to expectations. The Dunedin Cup was won by W. Cumberbeach's Gold Flight,.. „which ran an excellent race in the" final to beat F. Tanner's Happy Win by three parts of a length. 'j. In the second heat of the Mountney Memorial Handicap Mrs R. M. Ferguson's Sunshine, a Southland dog, had the misfortune when about 100 yards from the finishing post to hit the wire on the side of the track and 1 was knocked out.
