DUNEDIN BOWLING CENTRE

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Bowling Centre was held on Saturday night in the board room of the secretary (Mr R. Hanning), and was attended by the president (Mr J. H. Hinton), Messrs H. Rowley, F. W. Venn, A. Cook, S. Devereux, G. A. Nelson,. J. Nelson, F. C. Smith, W. D. Richards, J. Melville, J. J. Davis, J. Forster, E. Longworth, T. Smith, C. M'Donald, W. Dryden, J. Campbell, J. Butler, W. Barrowman, W. Callender, S. A, Wood, A. Bowie and W. A. Howard. TESTING OF BOWLS Mr Rowley asked for a ruling in a case where new bowls bearing a Christchurch testing stamp had been distributed by an agent in Christchurch to a sub-agent in Dunedin. He wanted to know whether it was in accordance with the rules that new bowls stamped by one centre should be sent into the district of another centre.

It was reported that the secretary had written to the New Zealand Association drawing attention to the matter mentioned by Mr Rowley, and suggesting that the attention of the tester for the Christchurch Centre should be directed to the decision of the council, that any tester altering bowls for players residing in another tester's district must promptly send full particulars of such alterations to the secretary of the centre in which the bowlers reside, so that the local tester may be advised. In view of the secretary's action, it was decided to go no further with the matter in the meantime. MATCH AGAINST CENTRAL OTAGO On behalf of the Match Committee. Mr Smith reported that arrangements had been made for the match against Central Otago Centre to be played on the second Thursday in March, and recommended that the executive confirm this date. —The recommendation was approved. UNPLAYED GAMES The Match Committee submitted the following recommendation:— " That matches set down for round one of the Saturday matches be played on the evening of Thursday, November 26, 16 heads to be played, finished games to stand, and any others to start afresh." The recommendation was defeated, and it was decided that a record of finished games be kept, and that scores, if likely to affect the result of the championship, be added to the club's totals, unplayed games to be played at the end of the season only if likely to affect th» final result. CHRISTMAS PAIRS TOURNAMENT

It was decided that entries for the Christmas Pairs tournament close on December 16, and that the next meeting of the executive be held on the following evening.
