“THE MESSIAH”

" Messiah " lovfirs who attend the presentation of the work to-morrow night will note a refreshing change through the decision of the Dunedin Choral Society to invite Mr Victor Peters, of Christchurch, to conduct. Mr Peters, after one rehearsal, has gained the entire confidence of the choir members, and it was with the keenest enthusiasm that they responded to his baton at Saturday night's practice. His interpretations of the choruses were" particularly fine and artistic, especially so in " Worthy Is the Lamb " and "All We Like Sheep." Mrs N. R. Henderson (soprano), Miss Bertha Rawlinson (contralto), Mr Alfred Walrhsley (tenor) and Mr F. G. Taplin (bass), who will take the solos, constitute a very fine team which can be relied upon to do justice to the beautiful " Messiah " music. The accompaniments by an orchestra under the leadership of Mr J. A. Wallace and by Dr V. E. Galway at the organ will add to the enjoyment of the evening. The performance will be in the presence of their Excellencies, the Governor-General and Lady Galway. Further particulars aro advertised.
