BRIGADE NOTES The Dunedin Nursing Division held the annual social inspection last month, when Assistant Commissioner Lieutenant-colonel P. H. Morey, District Officers A. G. A. Swanson and H. O. Marsh, and Lady Corps Superintendent Miss Applegarth were present to inspect the members on parade. After the parade Colonel Morey congratulated the division on the efficiency of the members, the general neatness of the uniforms, and the large attendance of members. District Officers Swanson and Marsh also spoke of the good work being done by the division. The final meeting for the year was held on Novembe: 2, when, owing to the wintry weather conditions prevailing, the attendance was not so good as usual. During the evening District Officer A. G. A. Swanson paid an official visit to the division and complimented the teams who were so successful at the recent competitions, also thanking the members for the assistance rendered in connection with the social arrangements. Miss Steadman, lady superintendent, also thanked the members for their unfailing support during the year, and extended congratulations to the winning squads and expressed the division’s appreciation to Mr Swanson for the interest taken in the division. OTAGO DISTRICT CADET COMPETITIONS Last Saturday afternoon the juvenile section of the St. John Ambulance Brigade was engaged in their annual competitions. The work included team first aid work, transport, roller bandaging, bed-making, and individual bandage te_sts. The standard set by all teams "was very high. Colonel Barclay, chief commissioner for New Zealand, was present and commented on the good work being done. The following are the results:— Junior Boys’ Cup, First Aid, Transport and Individual (Judges: Dr R. Fulton, District Officer Swanson and Ambulance Officer M'Pherson). —Hillside (R. Dowland, L. Driver, W Hartstong, G. Freeman) 125 points, 1; Hillside Division, 120 points, 2, Six teams competed. Senior Boys’ Cup, First Aid, Transport and Individual (Judges; District Superintendent J. C. White, Ambulance Officer E. Flawn). —Hillside (W. Swanson, A. Burns, D. Miller, G. Lyng), 132 points, 1; Hillside. 122 points, 2. Crighton Shield, First Aid and Roller Bandage (Judges; Dr G. Bar-
nett and Corps Officer Miss Applegarth).—Dunedin Nursing (M. Abernethy, V. Shepherd, I. Shepherd, P. Abernethy), 107 points, 1; Hillside, 105 J, 2; Caversham. 104. 3. Seven teams competed. Girls’ First Aid, First Aid and Oral Work (Judge; Division Superintendent Miss Steadman). —Dunedin Nursing (M. Abernethy, V. Shepherd, I. Shepherd, P. Abernethy). 1; Dunedin Nursing, 2. Home Nursing Shield, Bed-making and Roller Bandage (Judge: Division Superintendent Mrs Fox).— Dunedin Nursing (M. Abernethy. V. Shepherd. I. Shepherd. P. Abernethy), 1: Caversham. 2. In the even’ng at Stuart Hall a district social was held when over 65 were present. After a good programme of games and items the presentation of cups was made to the winning teams by District Superintendent J. C. White, after which Mrs Barclay presented the Junior Shield and Cup in connection with the Hillside divisional competitions which were run in conjunction with the district competitions.
