MARCHES TO LONDON

"CANNOT BE ENCOURAGED" CABINET STATEMENT ISSUED (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 14. Cabinet has issued a statement, presumably in reference to the Jarrow marchers and other marchers to London, that these are undesirable in a country governed by a parliamentary system, and cannot be encouraged. Ministers cannot receive deputations of marchers, though they are always prepared to meet members of the House of Commons. PARTY OF BLIND MARCHERS LONDON, Oct. 14. (Received Oct. 15, at 10 p.m.) The Jarrow marchers are carrying on, and say they do not intend to seek an interview with the Prime Minister, but merely to present a petition. Twenty blind marchers, with their arms linked, are tapping their way from South Wales to London. They also refuse to return. They will meet 250 other Watford marchers and plead for State control of all blind welfare services.
