NOTES FROM WELLINGTON

(Special to Daily Times) WELLINGTON, Oct. 6. In view of the poor form displayed by the Trentham horses at Otaki on Saturday, it is now unlikely that any of them claiming engagements at Auckland will make the trip. Sunee was to have left yesterday, but his trip was cancelled, and Cricket is another definitely staying at home. It is also improbable that Deficit will go. Deficit is always a better horse for a race, but the Great Northern Guineas is run on the first day of the week, and his display at Otaki gives him little chance of winning against improved opponents. .Prostration continues to work well. He will have his first race at Master-

ton, and all going well he is Trentham's most likely candidate for the New Zealand Cup It was at Masterton last year that Cuddle opened her winning sequence for Mr R. J. Murphy. The Duke of Gloucester Cup winner. Shy, is also to run in the New Zealand Cup, and R. W. Savage has been retained to ride him Shy's form, though only hack so far. is better than the average, but, provided Prostration goes on \he right way, the latter is the better Cup prospect. . • . , • T George has received word from Australia that if Cuddle fails at Caulfield next Saturday she will probably be sent back to him to prepare for her second assault on the Auckland Cup.
