NOTES FROM RICCARTON
(Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 5. There was not much excitement in the track work at Riccarton this morning. It was, in fact, quieter than usual, most of the horses that are to race at the Dunedin meeting this week having left for Wingatui. Easy pacing the reverse way, mostly on the sand, was the popular exercise. The five-furlong starting barrier was at the disposal of the trainers, a number of two-year-olds, as well as some older horses, being given some education. Epic was among the horses sent to the barrier and he ran down the straight at a sound pace. He will leave for Wingatui 10-inorrow when he will have Sir Hugh and La France a,s mates.
Vitaphone. and Capital will go south to-night, the other member of the team, Redolent, having gone on after racing at Kurow, a. programme that was also followed by Polydora. H. Cutts, .with Paper. Slipper, Top Notch, Recollection, Card Player, Thermidor, and Lazybones, and T.;H. Giljett with Wexford Bridge and Pelmet left for , Wingatui : this morning. All the horses are in good bfder.
