CONCESSIONS IN BRITAIN RUSH OF NEW SUBSCRIBERS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Sept. 30 (Received Oct. 1. at 5.5 p.m.) The reductions in the charges for the telephone service, including concessions to residential subscribers of 200 local calls a year free of charge which were announced by the Post-master-general in July evoked a record number of applications tor telephone service of 10,000 in Jess than three months The post office engineers are working at full pressure to keep pace with the unparalleled public demand.
