LEITH HARRIER CLUB

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES The annual reunion and presentation of trophies of the Leith Harrier Club was held last evening in the Leith Bowling Club’s pavilion, a good attendance of members and friends being present. Before presenting the various trophies the president, Mr A. J. Dryden, referred to the successful season just concluded, the eleventh in the existence of the club. Although no outstanding successes had been gained, an excellent club spirit existed between members, and if the club was fostering this spirit it was providing something of definite value. He thanked the secretary, captain, deputy captains, and trainers for their work during the season and made special mention of the work of Mr J. Peterson, who had rendered yeoman service. Unfortunately Mr Peterson was unable to be present, but the president stated that a gift, as a small token of the members’ esteem, would be forwarded to him,

The captain, Mr S. A. Anderson, mentioned the good work performed by the secretary, Mr H. G. Markham, during the past six years, and made a presentation to him on behalf of members. Mr Markham remarked on the cordial relationships he had experienced with the various members and stated that his work had been a pleasure indeed. The principal trophies were presented as follows:—Senior Cup, R. M’Kinlay; Brettell Cup and Hislop Vase. D. V. Scott; Track and Field Cup, A. L. Murray: Junior Cup and Three-Mile Handicap Cup, L. Kerr; Fair-maid Cup, D. Fincham. Gold attendance badges for three years’ unbroken attendance were awarded to S. Avent, I. Harding, and R. Dalton. Fourteen members were granted silver badges for one year’s unbroken attendance. Following the presentation of trophies the remainder of the evening was spent in dancing.
