A FIVE-DAY WEEK

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. The Mayor, Mr T. C. A. Hislop, and the chairmen of the various committees of the City Council, held a meeting to discuss a report presented to a meeting of the council by the town clerk. It was decided that the live-day week should apply to all employees with the exceptions recommended in the report. These included certain officers of the tramways, power stations, libraries, Treasury, city solicitor’s office, reserves, town clerk’s office, Milk Department, and abattoirs. This, with the above exceptions, means working half an hour extra every day by those who get the Saturday off.
