BRITISH AIRLINER ATHENA PASSENGERS AND CREW SAFE KARACHI, Sept. , 29. (Received Sept. 30, at 1.45 a.m.) The east-bound airliner Athena was destroyed by fire when taking off at Delhi. The passengers and the crew are safe and the bulk of the air mails is undamaged. It carried those which were loaded for Australia from London on September 23. *.

The Athena caught fire while the engines were starting up. A relief plane is en route to take on the mails after a few hours’ delay.
