(Received Sept. 29, at 5.5 p.m.) Miss Gloria Minoprio, a 25-year-old golfer who uses only one club, a number one iron, won her first match in the English Women’s Championship at Hayling, beating Miss G. James, who used a full set of woods and irons, 4 and 3. Miss Minoprio, who wore a blue-trousered suit and a tight-fitting jersey, says she is'convinced that a successful game can be built up with one club. Other first round winners were the title holder (Mrs M. Gar on), and Misses W. Morgan, D. Fishwick, M. Barton, P. Wade, K. Gamham and B. Newell. AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS SUMMIT (New Jersey), Sept. 28.
