CRICKET

GREEN ISLAND CLUB The sixth annual meeting of the Green Island Cricket Club was held recently when the president (Mr A. Harraway) congratulated the club on completing another successful year. The annual report showed that although the senior team had been split up at the beginning of the season the club had been successful in winning the Second B Grade Competition. This team had lost only one match in three seasons.

The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr W. T. Smellie; president, Mr T. G. Tomkins: vice-presidents—Messrs J. B. Orr, M. Harraway, W. Morland. G. Harraway E. Bezett, J. A. Beale, T. Anderson, and A. Harraway; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. Freeman; club captain, Mr A. Grant; committee—Messrs M. Watson, W. Miller, A. Grant, W. Berry V. Short, and R. Barnes; delegate to Otago Cricket Association, Mr T. Tom kins; auditor, Mr W. T. Smellie; Ground Committee—Messrs W. Miller, A. Grant, W. Berry, R. Buchanan, and V. Short; custodian, Mr W. Miller. One new member was elected and opening day was fixed for Saturday next. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring president (Mr A. Harraway) and also the retiring secretary (Mr A. Lindsay) for their valuable assistance to the club during the nast six years.
