PROTESTANT ALLIANCE
The regular meeting of Valley True Blue Lodge was held on Tuesday, W.M. Bro. Campbell presiding over a fair attendance. One candidate was initiated. An invitation was received from Loyal Excelsior to attend the sixtieth jubilee functions, and it was decided to accept and attend officially. Sick pay this period was considerably heavier than usual, due to the prevailing influenza. It was reported that the arrangements for the annual dance to be held on August 25 were now complete, and the function should be up to the standard of previous years. After the meeting a social hour was spent with Pride of Valley Lodge. The fortnightly meeting of Pride of Valley Ladies' Lodge was held on Tuesday, W.M. Sister Yeoman presiding over a good attendance. Three candidates were initiated. Visitors included D.M. Bro. Pepperill and members of Triumph Lodge. It was decided that the lodge be represented at Loyal Excelsior jubilee celebrations. A minute of sympathy was recorded for Secretary Sister Robertson, who was unable to attend through illness. A vote of thanks was accorded the visitors and Bro. Pepperill suitably responded. After the meeting a challenge was played off for the Euchre Shield, and the visitors succeeded in winning the trophy from the ladies after a good contest. W. Mist. Sister Yeoman presented the shield to Bro. Pepperill and hoped that Triumph would be able to retain it till the ladies challenged for it again. A social hour followed and the proposed visit to Star of Southland was discussed.
