WOMEN'S DIVISION N.Z. FARMERS' UNION

Reports of meetings of branches are requested, but they should be furnished promptly, for the publication of reports that are not supplied within a week from the date of the meeting cannot be promised.

The Berwick branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union mot on Thursday last. The members expressed their regret at losing their president. Mrs Henderson, who was leaving the district. Mrs John Miller will (ill the position of acting-president until Hie end of the year. Mcsdames 13. and S Miller were chosen to attend Country Girls' Week. Mr J. Hamilton, who attended the Young Farmers' Educational Week, gave a summary of their activities. The result of the Primrose Competition was Mrs M'Kay first and Miss P. Henderson second. During the month the annual children's party was held and, as usual, was a success. At the beginning of the month also, members took the opportunity of attending the West Taieri meeting for the purpose of hearing Miss Bipe. sjt * * The Taieri Mouth branch met on Wednesday, when Mrs Sinclair presided. The roll call was answered by "My most awful moment." The competition, "Something made from a kerosene tin," was won by Miss D. Marshall (ash pan and shovel), with

Miss E. Barber (coal scuttle), and Mrs R. Joseph (cake tins, measure and funnel) second equal. A musical parcel game was won by Miss Hall. Some of the members read quotations from favourite authors. The hostesses were Mesdames Sinclair and Barber.

The Warrington branch met on Wednesday in the St. Barnabas Guild room. The president, Mrs M'Aleese, presided. Mrs T. Roughan, of Puketeraki, gave a demonstration on "Italian Quilting." Various new ideas were also shown, and Mrs Roughan was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competition was won by Mrs Gardiner, Port Chalmers. The hostess was Mrs Devlin. Master Alistair Wright's name for a violin solo was inadvertently omitted from our list of July 10.
