ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

MOTOR CAR STRIKES BRIDGE OCCUPANTS PRECIPITATED INTO STREAM. (Pee United Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, June 11. While going from Danncvirke to a danco at Woodville last evening a car containing four Dannevirke and two Kiritaki resident* struck the concrete bridge on the main road about four miles from Woodville. The car remained where it struck, but the occupants are reported to have all been shot into the creek, which contained several feet of water. They were rescued by the driver of the car, Cyril Albert White, who was unhurt, and by a motorist who was following. The only one seriously injured was a youth, Trevor Drinkwater,-of Dannevirke, who had his leg broken. The other members of the party, including two young women, suffered from abrasions and shock, but thess are not serious.

INJURIES TO EYES

(Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 11. The injuries to the eyes suffered by M* Ward, second officer of the Tamakine, when the Holmes light exploded in his face, are not so serious as was at first feared, and he is not expected to lemain long in hospital. .

WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED

KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR TRUCK. (Feb United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. June 11. Mrs Davis, aged 68, of Hornby, is in the Christchnrch Hospital in a serious condition suffering from severe head in< juries after being struck by a motor truck on the Main South road at Hornby this evening Mrs Davis was walking on the road aim in arm with another woman when the motor truck, which was driven by Albert Hopkins, of Tinwald, Overtook her and struck her from behind.' She was thrown clear, but fell heavily. THROWN FROM HORSE Through being thrown from a horse at Hooper's Inlet yesterday, Lena Rac, aged 33 .years, married, residing at Cape Saunders, suffered head injuries. The injured woman was admitted to the Hospital at 0.30 p.m. • A FRACTURED ARM When riding a horse in Allendale road yesterday Alice M'Kay. aged 54 years, married, residing at 38 Ravenswood road, was thrown, and suffered a fractured right arm. She was admitted to the Hospital at 4.15 p.m.
