On the question of battleships, Lord Stanley said he could only repeat that they country, but it had been proved by the were not building against any single mere fact that Germany, France, and Italy were all building battleships that the day of the battleship was not over, and it was essential to start as early as possible in replacing the rapidly ageing British battle fleet
