A VIOLENT SCENE

MIDDLE-AGED MAN RUNS AMOK INKWELL THROWN AT MAGISTRATE (Per United Press Association) DARGAVILLE, March 19. Excitement prevailed in the local courthouse this morning when a middle-aged man ran amok. It appears that the clerk of the court was on his way to the Post Office when he was accosted by a man who cursed and swore at him, being, apparently, under the delusion that he had been summoned to appear at court. The clerk then left him. The man proceeded to the office of the foreman of the Borough Council and obtained possession of a flame thrower, which he took into the street and danced around before going to the courthouse. On arrival there he picked up a typewriter from the counter and huned it to the floor. He then threw an inkpot at the magistrate (Mr G. N. Morris, S.M.), who was in an adjoining room. The missile missed its mark, but the walls of the room were splashed. , ~ Mr Morris then went for the police. Before they arrived the man went to the roadway and removed an axe from a motor car. This he was swinging in his hand until he was overcome by Sergeant Cullotty and Constable du Temple. The man was locked up and will appear later in the day before the magistrate.
