ADMINISTRATION BLOCK
COMPANY BAY HEALTH CAMP GIFT OF £IOOO At Wednesday night’s meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Dunedin Methodist Central Mission the secretary and treasurer (Mr H. H. Johnson) read a letter from Mr Samuel Saltzman announcing a gift of £IOOO towards the administration block of the mission’s children’s health camp and rest home at Company Bay. The letter stated: “ Having visited your h6me at Company Bay, I consider that your proposed building scheme will be of great benefit to the less fortunate children, and an asset to this city. In my opinion, this health camp is very desirable, much needed at present, and deserves sympathy and practicaal assistance. With this object in view, I have much pleasure in making a gift of £IOOO towards the erection of an administration block which, in my opinion, is absolutely .essential. I trust your efforts will be rewarded with great success and benefit to the needy.” Members of the board spoke in highly appreciative terms of Mr Saltzman’s generosity and sense of citizenship, and the chairman (the Rev. Leslie B. Neale) suggested that it would be very fitting to designate the new building "Tho Samuel Saltzman Administration Block.” The board unanimously agreed to this suggestion.
The erection of the mission’s Children’s Health Camp and Rest Home at Company Bay requires a considerable amount of capital expenditure. The erection of the admisistration block was deemed inadvisable at present on account of inadequate finance, but Mr Saltzman’s gift has determined the board to proceed with the new wing immediately.
