Mr and Mrs lan Speight, who are on their way south from Auckland, are spending a few days in Christchurch.
Miss Betty Copland, a pupil of Mies Sinclair, gained honours at the recent Trinity College theory of music examinations held at Gore.
Mr and Mrs Hugh Tait, of Mornington, returned to Dunedin on Wednesday, after a holiday spent in motoring through Southland and Central Otago. Mr Cliff Tait, who accompanied them, will be present at the air pageant.
Madame Annie Laurie Trewman, of London, is at the present time staying at the Grand Hotel. She has been touring the South Island, and was greatly thrilled with the glacier region, while she thinks the Eglinton Valley is simply magnificent. She is so loving New Zealand that she says she has decided to come. and live here. She is combining a musical tour with pleasure and was broadcast from Wellington, where she hopes •to give a recital before she returns to England.
The Sunday School pupils of St. Mary's, Palmerston, and St. John's, Waikouaiti, held a combined picnic on the Waikouaiti Beach. The Ven. Archdeacon and Mrs Button were present, and the outing was most enjoyable. A number of parents and older people were present, and it was voted by all who attended to be one of the best for many years.
