OUTRAM TOWN BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Outram Torn Board was held on Thursday last and was attended by the chairman (Mr James Dow) and Messrs Doherty, Hendry, Hughes 7 and Walker. At the request of the Department of Health, Mr F. Varney, inspector of health, Dunedin. was appointed sanitary inspector (or the Outram Town District.
A_ letter was received from the kirk session of the West Taieri Presbyterian Church pointing out that the letting of the recreation reserve on Sunday for a cricket match was hurtful to the susceptibilities of many people in the district, and it was therefore respectfully requested that this' fact be taken into consideration in future when similar applications for the Sunday use of the recreation reserve are received. It was decided-by a majority of the board members that the recreation reserve be let on Sundays. Mr A. Colhoun was the successful tenderer for the manuka firewood on the Reserve Hill. It was decided that a charge be made for the paddocking of sheep on the reserve next the tennis court. It was decided to notify the certifying officer that in the meantime the board was unable to provide work for the unemployed.
