THE NEW ZEALAND EMBARGO LONDON, March 4. (Received March 5, at 10.30 p.m.) At a meeting of the council of the Royal Agricultural Society Sir Mcrrik Bu'rrcll welcomed the new Australian method of co-operative financial assistance in the importation of stud stock. He said it showed broad-mindedness and a patriotic spirit,'which he hoped would be an example to other dominions. Lord Bledisloe. referring to the New Zealand embargo against British livestock, said nothing would encourage consolidation of opinion in New Zealand more than an expression of opinion from the society and breed societies that the likelihood of foot-and-mouth disease being imported thus to the Dominion was remote.
The society adopted Sir Archibald Weigall's suggestion to draw the attention of the New Zealand Government to the Australian action.
