FORESTERS

At the fortnightly meeting of Court Pride of the Leith there was a good attendance of members, under the direction of C.R. Bro. H. M'Ewan. A member was accepted by clearance from Canterbury, and one new member was initiated with the usual ceremonies. At the same time the court initiated a new member on behalf of Court Excelsior. The toast of "The Visitors" was responded to by P.C.R. Bro. S. Wood on behalf of Court Excelsior, who thanked the court for assisting them to add a new member to their roll. The nomination of a candidate was accepted, and the evening closed with cards. At the adjourned meeting of Court Bruce, Milton, an official visit was paid by Court Little John. The meeting was presided over by C.R. Bro. W. Nimmo, who expressed pleasure at seeing so many visitors present. He referred to the spirit of goodfellowship which existed between the two courts, the interchange of visits being brought about through the secretary, Bro. R. C. Wilson, of Court Little John, and his brother, the late P.C.R Bro. W. A. Wilson, then treasurer of Court Bruce. He hoped the friendly feeling would long continue. Bro. Nimmo made feeling reference to the loss suffered by Court Little John and the United Otago District by the passing of the P.D.C.R., Bro. W. Sinclair, who was one of the founders of his court. C.R. Sis. Brandon replied to the welcome to the visitors, and thanked Court Bruce for its hospitality and warm reception. A resolution of sympathy was passed to the family of Bro. W. A. Baxter, who died at sea whilst on his return voyage home. Despite the fact that he had resided in different localities, he had retained his membership in Court Bruce for over 40 years. The officers of Court Little John were invited to conduct the initiation of five candidates, and at the same tune to initiate one of their own candidates. The ceremony was unusual in the history ot Court Bruce. C.S. Bro. R. C. Wilson spoke of the warm hospitality always shown by Court Bruce to visitors.
