HIS MAJESTY THE KING
ARMY APPOINTMENTS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, February 18. The King has assumed the appointment of colonel-in-chief of the Life Guards, the Royal Horse Guards, the Royal Regiment of Artillery, the corps of the Royal Engineers, the Grenadier Guards, the Coldstream Guards, the Scots Guards, the Irish Guards, and the Welsh Guards. His Majesty has also assumed the appointment of captaingeneral and’ colonel of the Honourable Artillery Company and the Territorial Army. It is announced that the Duke of York has been promoted to be an admiral in bis Majesty’s Fleet, a general in the Army, and an air chief marshal in the Royal Air Force —-all from January 21. FIRST INVESTITURE LONDON, February IS. (Received Feb. 19, at 5.5 p.m.) The King held his first investiture at St. James’s Palace. The 200 recipients of the insignia of various orders included Major-general Freyberg, V.C., who received the Companionship of the Bath. His Majesty also decorated with the Victorian Order many officers, sailors and soldiers who participated in King George’s funeral, among whom was Lieutenant Huntingdon, of the Grenadier Guards, vho picked up the cross which fell off, the Imperial Grown.
