GIRL GUIDE NOTES
By Gtjider. i CHIEF GUIDE'S MESSAGE. The following message regarding Thinking Day is given by the Chief Guide, Lady Baden-Powell: — "Thinking Day is coming round again soon, and once more our special thoughts will be centred on closer friendship oetween Guides and Girl Scouts of all nations. February 22 has come to mean a great deal to many Guides' and Girl Scouts the world over, and just as wireless electric waves go out over the air to be caught by radio receivers, so these kind thoughts of ours go out in new abundance each year, aglow with goodwill, to be picked up by waiting minds afar off. . , " The rule—' A Guide is a sister to every other Guide'—is no mere passing phrase on the tongue with us, but is sincerely meant by all those who have promised, on their honour, to keep the Guide Law. Being sisters all in one family, we want to do all that is possible to help one another, and to spread further and wider the spirit of the game we are all playing together. "We can each of us help in some way to foster the growth of this sisterhood of ours, and, whoever we are and wherever we may be, we can give something with either our hands or our hearts.. From
your heart you can send a kindly word and a friendly greeting to some unknown Guide in another land. The Giiiders who hide their identity under the name of ' Post Box' are waiting and crying out for more correspondents to become pen friends across the sea, and through this contact alone every Guide can do something towards making our Guide friendships a force in the world, and proving her fourth law to be a living thing. " Then, with your willing hands, you can give further service if you will. The Thinking Day Fund, which you have supported in former years, is again awaiting your kindly help. With clever brains and skilful hands it may perhaps be possible to make or to get together some small sums of money for this cause, which we all love so well. In no way is it incumbent on anybody to think of this if times are hard. But ' many mickles mak' a muckle,' r.s they say in Scotland, and it would be good indeed if the World Association's work for guiding could have the full support it deserves. — (Signed), Olave Baden-Powell, World Chief Guide."
