A LIFE OF SERVICE
MRS JANE C. THROP At the evening service of the Moray Place Congregational Church last night the Rev. Albert Mead referred to the death of Mrs Jane C. Throp, who had been associated with the church for over half a century. The Congregational Church had suffered a very deep loss, Mr Mead stated, by the passing of an esteemed and greatly valued friend and fellow believer in Mrs Throp, who, after being associated with the Methodist Church, attached herself to the Congregational faith and order, and was ever a faithful and devoted servant of Christ in the church. For over 50 years Mrs Throp had taken an unfailing interest, hot only in the concerns of the church, but also in the well-being of its denominational life and work. She was a woman whoso rule in life was to do all the good she could, and she brought comfort and joy to a large number of people. Mrs Throp had converted her mind into a vast storehouse of beautiful thoughts, many of which she had compressed into three volumes of poems and articles, which were published. “ Mrs Throp will ever be remembered,” said Mr Mead, “ as a kindly, courageous woman who sought to live in the spirit of Jesus Christ by being faithful in all her family and other relationships. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal and true friend, a generous supporter of every good cause. Her Small, frail body housed an indomitable will and a very large heart of loving sympathy We thank God for every remembrance of her faith and zeal and for a life which ennobled and enriched other lives.”
