WAITAKI HALL COMMITTEE

ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW The fourth annual flower show , conducted by the Waitaki Hall Committee proved an unqualified success, and the committee’s funds should he greatly augmented as a result of this effort. Very good entries were received in all classes, and' the various exhibits made a very attractive display. The quality of the blooms was of a fairly high standard, and much better than might have been expected, on account of the fairly dry season. However, the recent rains had freshened the blooms up considerably. The premier dahlia was exhibited by Miss Netta Duff, the premier gladioli by Mrs D. G. Whitteker, and the champion rose by Mrs J. M. Fulford. Mrs S. S. Simpson was the most successful in the decorative work, gaining four firsts and a second.

The vegetable section was the biggest at any show held by the Waitaki Hall Committee, and the exhibits were remarkable for their size, shape and quality. The baking was also a fairly large section, and here again the quality reflected great credit on the exhibitors. The children took a very keen interest in their section, and in each class the entries were indeed very gratifying. . During the afternoon the show was declared open by Mr James Gerrie, of Oamaru, who congratulated the Hall Committee on a very successful show, and also the competitors on staging such fine quality exhibits.

The various judges were (hanked for their assistance and for the able manner in which they bad carried out their duties.
