CONSOLING REFLECTION

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —There used to be a much-quoted saying from the book, “ David Harum,” to the effect that “ a certain amount of fleas is good for a dog—it keeps him from dwelling too much on the fact that he i» a dog.’ I commend this saying to the atttention of all landlords. When “Another Old Bill ’’ (may the devil fly away with him for filching my nom de plume) next sees the depredations of the rising generation on the walls of his house, let him console himself with the thought that the authors of this damage, in the next generation (as soldiers, nurses, or W.A.A.C.’s) may probably save his property, and perhaps his life, from the marauding hostile force. —I am, tc., Old Bill.
