M'Cabe batted with his usual dashing brilliance, his accurate drives reducing the good length of the opening attack to impotence. He became reckless after reaching his century. Richardson continues to show poor form. He had two lives before being dismissed. Chipperficld collected his runs off almost every ball, and reached his century in 126 minutes. He hit 10 boundaries. Darling and Sicvers both gave bright displays. Fleetwood-Smith injured his hand and did not bat or field. The Border batsmen attempted to hit O’Reilly, but were unable to overcome his leg trap. Sicvers bowled with great heart, and at the drawing of stumps the local side was facing an innings defeat. EASY WIN FOR AUSTRALIA EAST LONDON, January 14.
