AMATEUR ATHLETICS

FIRST SCRATCH MEETING In hot, sunny weather the first interclub scratch meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association w r as held on the Caledonian Ground on Saturday afternoon. There was a somewhat disappointing attendance of spectators, but those who -were present were treated to an interesting afternoon’s sport. A noticeable feature of the meeting was the satisfactory; way in which the gx-ading had been carried out, and as a lesult competition was keen throughout. The clubs were well represented, but some of the fields in the distance events were a little disappointing. The meeting was capably conducted, and the pro?;ramme was put through with few deays.
