SAVINGS BANK FRAUDS

SENTENCE ON L. E. DIN THREE YEAES' IMPRISONMENT. (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 5. Laul Edward Din, for the Post Office Savings Batik frauds (in which over £;S000 was obtained), was sentenced to throe years' imprisonment with hard labour. Counsel, Mr R. Moody, referred to similar cases where probation was granted, but the judge said there must have been exceptional circumstances in the probation cases quoted. The offences in this case were planned cunningly and carried out on bold lines, with the apparent desire to live a life of luxury and comfort at the expense of other people.
