TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —From Mr Allen’s address to the Associated Chambers of Commerce we learn;—(l) That the benefit farmers obtained by the 25 per cent, exchange was immediately diminished by increased costs; and (2) that imports from the United Kingdom were loaded by 25 per cent., while imports from Australia escaped entirely. How did the economic law which raised New Zealand costs not similarly affect Australian costs?—l am, etc., X. Y. Z.
