"10,000 UNDERNOURISHED CHILDREN "

TO THE EDITOR. Sm, —if your correspondent "Propaganda," who has been daily endeavouring for the past two or three weeks to draw Dr M'Millan into an argument, can find nothing better to quibble about than a general remark made on a public platform, then, in my opinion, he has even less sense than the majority of people who write to newspapers. (I am one of the minority!). If Dr M'Millan did say that there were 10,000 under-nourished children in NewZealand, then he probably has good ground for making this assertion. 100 not see how it could be otherwise, after four years of depression, with many thousands of parents drawing only relief money. Suppose the number were only 5000, or even 2500, the disgrace to the country would be just as great. In my opinion, Dr M'Millan works hard and sympathetically for the poor and needy and down-trodden —so hard that he undoubtedly has no time to reply to foolish letters like those of "Propaganda." If any conclusions are drawn from his silence, they will probably be that he has a good deal of sense in refusing to take any notice of anonymous correspondents.—l am, etc., COMMONSENSE. ■ Dunedin, October 30. TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—" Propaganda " must be highly pleased in getting the required answer to the question that he is angling from Dr M'Millan. He must think Dr M'Millan has very little to do if he is going to start replying to anonymous correspondence which will lead him nowhere. Here is a question for " Progaganda " and no reply is necessary: "What do you think of the death-bed repentance of the Forbes-Coates regime?"—l am, etc., Business Man. Dunedin, October 30.
