AMERICAN NAVY
PRESIDENT PRAISES EFFICIENCY WASHINGTON, October 20. (Received Oct. 27, at 10 p.m.) On the occasion of the annual observance of “ Navy Day,” which is tomorrow, President Roosevelt has sent to Air C. A. Swanson (Secretary of the Navy) a message praising the efficiency of American sea defence and stressing the necessity of strengthening the navy “to a degree commensurate with America's needs, interests, and responsibilities.”
