CHRIST THE KING
ROMAN CATHOLIC FEAST CELEBRATION AT MOSGIEL A centre of attraction for the Roman Catholic community yesterday was the Holy Cross Seminary, Mosgiel, where the Feast of Christ, the King, was celebrated with all due ceremony. The seminary grounds were looking very beautiful in their spring garb, and made an appropriate setting for the ceremonies. Dishop Whyte and the Dunedin priests visited Mosgiel for the occasion, and, in company with the rector and professorial staff of the seminary, assisted by the students, led a large assemblage of worshippers in the devotions. A feature of the afternoon ceremonies was the procession in which the bishop carried the Blessed Sacrament. The procession included school children, various sodalities of the church, clergy and students. Appropriate hymns were sung en route and prayers offered. An altar had been erected over the porch at the entrance to the college buildings, This was tastefully decorated and the benediction of the Blessed Sacrament was given there. The Rev. Father Courtenay read the Act of Consecration of the human race to the Sacred Heart and the Litany of the Sacred Heart. During Cm day exposition of the Blessed Sacrament was held in the college chapel. At 8 a.m. in the parish church the Rev. Father Courtenay sang a “ Missa Cantata.” The parish choir supplied the music and the Propens of the Mass. As an offertory “ Sacris Solemniis ” was sung and, at the close, “ Hail, Redeemer, King Divine.” There was a large congretation, practically every member of which received Holy Communion. Throughout, all the ceremonies were very edifying.
