CONCILIATION COUNCIL

WOOL AND GRAIN' EMPLOYEES AN AGREEMENT REACHED. (Pee United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 25. An agreement was readied in the Conciliation Council to-day between the wool, grain, and bide store employees and the employers. The employers offered a general increase of 5 per cent, on all rates of pay. This the employees’ assessors agreed to, but remained firm on extra pay for men working with green hides. After several adjournments the employers granted an extra penny per hour. An amendment to the existing award was made providing for the payment of Is 3d tea money when the men were called on to work overtime after 6 p.m. on any day after 1 p.m. on the half-holiday. The present rate is Is. An additional clause provides that when men are working under wet conditions they shall be provided with gum boots or clogs. The new award is to take effect from November 1, 1935, and will remain in operation until September 30, 1936.
