UNPLEASANT CONDITIONS . A LARGE ATTENDANCE (Per United Press Association) HASTINGS, October 24’. Despite intermittent ram, winch developed into a heavy downpour shortly after noon. Peoples Hay at the Roja Show to-day attracted a large number ot visitors from Hawke s Bay and othe parts of the Dominion. Ihe weather cleared later in the afternoon, although the ground remained muddy, making conditions unpleasant for the visitors. The grand parade was considered to he the best ever seen at a local show, ihe cattle exhibits included some ot the dominion’s finest stock. A feature, of the parade was the fact that never in New Zealand has there been such an assemblage of limb-grade imported bloodstock. An exceptionally extensive array of trade exhibits added to the interest of the show, the motor cars, agricultural machinery, and implements being particularly interThe president of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society, Mr J. U. Mac Niven, said to-day that he considered the show the finest ever held in Hawke s Bay. It proved that this province was quite efficient to hold Royal Shows at future dates. He congratulated the exhibitors upon their enterprise in bringing forward such fine entries, and also made mention of the valuable support of the stock breeders of Hawke s Bay and other parts of New Zealand. Although the final figures are not yet available, the show is expected to be a great success financially. To-day s championship results were a s 1 Merino champion ram —W. D. Ferine Horses.— Champion: N A. Avery’s Specialist (Havelock North); reserve. Miss A. Tail’s High Jinks (MaraekaSaddie Ponies.— Champion:. Miss P. Hartland’s Silver Mane (Waipukurau), reserve, M. M'Cutcheon s Babs (Greenmeadows). , , Gelding (four-year-old or upwards). Champion: A. Grant’s Dandy (Canterbury); reserve, T. Elliotts hloss (Hastings). .
