Mrs Taylor, of Melbourne, is tlie guest of Mrs Frank Fitchett, Pitt street. * * * Mrs and Miss M'Farlane are spending a short vacation at Karitane. Miss Olive Geddcs, of Wellington, is accompanying them. * * * Misses Clare Poff and Dorothy Mee have returned to Dunedin after spending a short holiday with Mrs James Corrigall, jun., of Omakau. * * * ■ Miss Evelyn Edgar, of 11 Taylor’s road, Fendalton, Christchurch, has just returned from a tour of judging dancing sections at Australian festivals. * * * On Wednesday evening, at the home of Mr and Mrs F. T. Johnston, Waipiata, Miss Hilda Johnston acted as hostess to several of her young friends. Musical items by the Misses E. Brown and D. Roberts were much appreciated. Games and various competitions caused fun and laughter among the guests. Mr V. Jones, on behalf of the guests, thanked the hostess for the delightful evening they had spent. The guests were: —Mrs Shaw, Misses A. Roberts, E. Frown, D. Roberts, E. Johnston, and Messrs V. Jones, D. Hore, S. Mac Kay, L. Williamson, and P. Roberts. >fc * * Mrs Russell Ritchie gave a luncheon party at the Otago Women’s Club on Tuesday in honour of Lady Evelyn Drummond. A bowl of brightly-hued anemones was the central decoration on the table, and at each guest’s place a posy of lily of the valley and cream tulips made an attractive scheme. The hostesses wore a suit of jubilee blue knop linen, with a stitched hat in blue silk of a darker shade, and Lady Evelyn Drummond a frock of blue checked wool, with a belt and If at in plain flavy. Other guests were Mrs R. Kennedy, Lady Ferguson, Mesdames G. C. Cruickshank, F. Fitchett, Taylor, G. R-. Ritchie, and Gerald Ferguson, and Miss A. Mill. * * * A marriage which caused much interest and surprise to their many friends was that of Pat. elder son of Mr and Mrs J. E. Macassey, of “The Hermitage, bt. Clair, and grandson of the late James Livingston Macassey, barrister-at-law, Dunedin, and Gertrude, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J.. A. Orlowski, of St. Clair. It was solemnised at All Saints Church by the Yen. Archdeacon Whitehead at 2.30 p.m. on Monday, 21st mst. The bride wore a charming ensemble ot beige and carried a bouquet of lily ot the valley, freesiafi, and maidenhair fern. After the ceremony a reception was he,d, at which only immediate relatives and friends were present, and where the happy bride and bridegroom received and responded to the customary toasts, later leaving by car for the south, en route to their future home at Otara. Mrs F. Fitcliett Rave an enjoyable tea party in the Tudor Hall yesterday afternoon in order to allow her guests to sea the tulips which are making so splendid a display there at present. There were present: Mesdames Gerald Ferguson, Taylor (Melbourne), and F. S. Batchelor, and Misses Johnstone (2),Rona Allen, Farquhar, Ramsay (2), Tneomin, Rattray (2), 0, Williams, Ulrich, and Scott.

The fifth annual party of the St. Clair Women’s Club Choir was held at the O.K. Cafe, where the members and friends numbering 80 spent a most enjoyable time. Violin solos by Mr S. Palmer, and a musical burlesque, “ The Pierrots.” by Messrs Douglas Barton and G. W. North were much appreciated, also a competition of choirs caused much amusement. Dancing and games occupied the rest of the evening. Prize winners for lucky spot waltzes, etc., were Miss O’Neill and partner, Mr and Mrs T. Smith, and Mrs Dove. Among those present were: Miss M'Dougall, Messrs and Mesdames G. H. Green, Howard Grant, Rendell, Robson, T. Smith, Charles Thomson, Brooks, Charles Anderson, Bardslcy, Barnet. Warwick, Palmer M'Lachlan, Rutherford, Davidson, L. Lawrence, Douglas Barton, G. W. North, T. Y. LoVe, Worthington, Price, Williamson, Dove, and Smith, Mesdames Douglas Paine, L. MacMillan, E. Ombler, Strachan, Brown, Ferens, J. Thomson, T. Davey, Young, Eustace, Neilson, Turnbull, Lennox, R. Paterson, Pritchard, and L. Withers, Misses R. Brooks, D. Bastings, May Thompson, Clare Adams, M. Wilkie, Ida Johnstone, O’Neill, and Thelma Thomson, and Messrs Macphereon, Russel Green, Norman Thomson, and Norman Walmsley.

Mr and Mrs. Lloyd Williams, of Alexandra, gave a dinner in the Bendigo Hotel to celebrate the coming of age of their daughter, Miss Belle Henderson. In the unfortunate absence of Mrs Lloyd Williams, owing to illness, Mrs C. W. L. Williams, wearing a frock of floral nlarocain, and Mrs J. Gardner, in black lace, were joint hostesses, and received the guests on the landing, where they were assisted by the guest of honour, who looked charming in a frock of amethyst chiffon velvet, trimmed with gold lace, and wearing gold shoes and a necklet of amber, one of her many gifts. About 40 guests were present. The supper tables were artistically arranged with spring flowers and bonbons. The toasts were as follows:—“The King” (Mr D. Provan); " The Guest of Honour " (Mr W. L. Milne, responded to by Mr Russel Henderson). Following this toast, .the guest of honour cut the cake, which was a departure from the usual, inasmuch as it bore 21 dainty quail wishbones in place of candles. The toast of “Mr and Mrs Lloyd Williams,” by Mr J. Gardner, was responded to by Mr Lloyd Williams, and ‘The Guests,” by Mr Lloyd Williams, was responded to by Mr R. E. M Lay. The guests then adjourned to the lounge for social intercourse, later journeying to a dance at Earnscleugb. Amongst those present were; —Messrs and Mesdames C. W. L. Williams, J. Gardner, W. Milne
