KAIKORAI BAND

ENJOYABLE CONCERT An enjoyable programme was presented by the Kaikorai Brass Band and assisting artists in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening before a large audience. The vocal portion of the entertainment rvas provided by Miss Ruby Price (mezzosoprano) and Mr Janies Simpson (tenor). Mias Price delighted her audience with “ The Shepherd's Song,” and as an encore “ Lovd Will Find a Way. Mr Simpson was heard to excellent advantage in “ For You Alone ” and “Ah. Sweet Mystery of Life.” Miss Nan McKees humorous elocutionary numbers were well received and Mr R. Wilson-Brown proved himself a comedian of marked ability. Mr Ted Heaney was popular with his piano-accord’on numbers. Lieutenant H. J. Osborne had the band in splendid form. Two bright marches, “Black Knight” and “Conqueror,” were well brought out, a selection from Gilbert and Sullivan’s ever-popular “Mikado” was delightfully interpreted and the waltz, “Old Abbey,” and a hymn, “ Holly,” both showed evidence of careful training and attention Ito detail. It was gratifying to see so many young players along with older_ and more experienced ones in the various sections of the band. Mr Alf. Pettitt was a splendid accompanist and Mr A. Hanna made an excellent announcer.
