GOLF IN AUSTRALIA

THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY F. W. M'MAHON ADELAIDE, August 25. (Received August 25, at 9 p.m.) The South Australian professional, F. W. M‘Mahon, won the Open Golf Championship of Australia from Forrier by one stroke. M'Mahon’s card of 293 for 72 holes lowers the course record by three strokes. Bolger’s 69 in the fourth round is also a course record. This is the third time that Ferrier has filled second place in the Open. Tile young New South Wales amateur, who is only 20, was leading the field at the end of the third round, but started the last round with a five and a six and took a fatal seven at the seventeenth. M'Mahon, who is 37, gave a superb display throughout a gruelling test. Par for 72 holes is 292. Stewart, who was leading at the end of the second round, collapsed on Saturday, recording 80 and 82.
